Buffing Your Business for a Future Sale

There are in excess of 10,000 people per day turning age 65. It follows that a large percentage of these people are business owners that are starting to have thoughts of selling their business, or transition them to the next generation.
Many would-be sellers have put off selling due to the poor economy, the difficulty finding lenders for would-be buyers, or other reasons.
Some of the options facing these sellers are:

  • Cash sale;
  • Deferred payment sale;
  • Transfer of ownership to the next generation;
  • ESOP transactions.

As the economy improves, however, there may be many companies for sale in the near future due to the demographic and or economic circumstances.

Over the next few posts, we will share suggestions on ways to get your business in shape to sell for the best possible price.
